Welcome

Mikie Lee Prasad is a Denver born, Bay Area based musician who knows his way around a song and is armed with a charismatic voice, solid guitar chops, and the easy, yet steady chime of the tamborine he wears around his ankle. He has also been a contributor (touring, playing on/producing cd's) to the bands of Maria Muldaur, Steve Gannon and Tippy Canoe and the Paddlemen.

influences include... Tom Waits, The Meters, Alex Mcmurray, Little Feat,  Beatles, Stones, Steve Earle, Happy Talk Band, Graham Parsons, The Band, SRV... I'm forgetting a bunch but you get the idea

Sherry Sly of Performer Magazine writes about Mikie's song "Take a Little Time" off his 2009 release Jukebox Folktales, Volume 1 it "...would be a hit single if subtle songwriting were held in higher esteem."

Keane Li of Performer Magazine writes "Jukebox Folktales: Volume Two is an exhibition in what experience, maturity, and witty songwriting can get you. From its happy highs to its somber depths, the variation on this well-balanced album creates an experience that can be tirelessly enjoyed. "

Lots going on!!!! November 18th 2011

 OK folks.... here we go....
Steve Gannon's new CD (which I produced!!!!) is hot off the presses.  It sounds amazing. Come get your copy at Steve's CD release party at the Starry Plough in Berkeley Dec 16th!

I'm headed down to LA at the end of Nov. to finish my vocal tracks for my upcoming CD being produced by the one and only Kaveh Rastegar (named one of the top 10 bass players by Downbeat magazine's reader's pole---congrats Kaveh!). We have five songs ready for me to sing over... this might only be an EP.  Or if it goes really well, maybe we'll shoot for another 5 tunes.

Beleive it or not, Heavy Petting Zoo has started work on another CD.  We have 7 songs almost done and are shooting for seven more in Feb.

Also playing on and co-producing my good friend, Nathan Maxwell's newest album.

All these things should be out in spring 2012..... gonna get busy!!!!!
